Instagram now lets viewers leave public comments on Stories, and those comments are visible to everyone for the full 24 hours the Story is live. If you schedule Stories through Storrito, this changes how you think about content, timing, and follow-up.
This post covers what the feature means for scheduled content and how to adjust your Storrito workflow.
Instagram introduced public comments on Stories as part of a broader push toward engagement features. Previously, Story replies went to Direct Messages and stayed private. Now, comments appear directly below the Story and are visible to all viewers. This is one of several recent changes aimed at making Stories more interactive.
Comments stay visible for the same 24-hour window as the Story itself. After the Story expires, the comments disappear with it.
When you auto-post a Story through Storrito, the Story goes live at the scheduled time without anyone needing to be online. That is the whole point of scheduling. But now that public comments exist, your audience can leave visible replies while no one from your team is actively monitoring.
This does not break anything. Your scheduled Story still posts normally. But it does mean you should plan for what happens after the Story goes live.
Before scheduling, check your Instagram comment controls. Instagram lets you filter comments by keywords, restrict comments from specific accounts, and control who can reply. These settings apply to Story comments as well. Set them up in the Instagram app under Settings, then Privacy, then Comments.
Some Story types are more likely to attract comments than others. A product announcement, a poll result, or a strong opinion will draw more replies. A simple brand update or behind-the-scenes photo may not.
When planning your Storrito content calendar, consider which Stories are likely to generate visible comments. For those, make sure someone on your team can check in during the 24-hour window.
If you schedule Stories in advance, build a check-in step into your workflow. After Storrito auto-posts the Story, plan to review comments at least once or twice while the Story is live. You can do this directly in the Instagram app or through Instagram's notification settings.
This is especially important for agencies managing multiple accounts. A scheduled Story with unanswered or negative public comments can affect how the brand is perceived.
Storrito supports interactive stickers like Polls, Quizzes, and Question stickers. These already encourage engagement. With public comments now visible, combining stickers with comment-ready content means more activity on your Stories. That can be a good thing if you are prepared to respond.
If you want engagement without public comments, you can still rely on interactive stickers. Sticker responses remain private in most cases.
Can I turn off public comments on my Stories? Yes. Instagram allows you to disable comments on individual Stories or adjust your general comment settings under Privacy. Check these settings before scheduling.
Does Storrito control Story comment settings? No. Comment settings are managed on Instagram directly. Storrito handles Story creation, scheduling, and auto-posting. Comment moderation happens on the Instagram side.
Will public comments affect my scheduled Stories differently than manual ones? No. A scheduled Story behaves the same as a manually posted Story once it is live. The only difference is that you may not be online when comments start arriving.
Can I see Story comments from Storrito? Story comments are visible in the Instagram app. Storrito focuses on creating and scheduling content. For monitoring engagement after posting, use Instagram directly.
What if I get negative comments on a scheduled Story? You can delete individual comments or restrict specific users through Instagram. Setting up keyword filters before scheduling helps prevent unwanted comments from appearing in the first place.
