Storrito Q&A: How to place ads on Instagram without a Facebook account

Want to successfully showcase your brand on Instagram? Then Instagram Stories should be a part of your daily work. In our "Storrito Q&A" we’ll explain everything you need to know about Instagram, Instagram Stories and Instagram Marketing.

Today: How to place ads on Instagram without a Facebook account

For a long time, you could only place ads on Instagram with a Facebook account. But since summer 2020, this belongs to the area of history. But now, you can also promote your content on Instagram without a Facebook connection.

How to place an ad on Instagram without Facebook

With Instagram’s growing success, the platform more and more peels away from its mother company Facebook. Separating Instagram’s ads business was just a logical consequence.

Her is how you can promote your content on Instagram without a Facebook account:

  1. Open Instagram and go to your profile.
  2. Select the post you would like to promote.
  3. Tap “Promote” on the right-hand side under your picture or video.
  4. Now you can specify the details for your promotion

Select a goal

The first thing you need to decide is the goal you would like to achieve with your promotion. Instagram gives you three options: more profile visits, more website visits, or more messages.

When you select more website visits, Instagram automatically chooses the website you provide in your bio. But you don’t need to take this website. If you want to promote another website or a more specific one, for example, for a particular product, tap “Edit”.

Here you can type in another website and edit the action button. You can choose from “Learn More”, “Shop Now”, “Watch More”, “Contact Us”, “Book Now”, and “Sign Up”.

Not sure what goal you should aim for? Instagram gives you the option to “Learn how to set a goal”. Just tap on the banner at the bottom of your screen and read the tips.

Define your audience

In the next step, you need to define the audience for your promotion. You can choose from two options. The first mode is automatic. Instagram targets accounts that are similar to your already existing community.

But you don’t have to choose this option, you can always create your own target group. Type in a name for your target group and select location, interest, age, and gender.

When you search for the right location, Instagram automatically takes the address from your bio as the starting point. You can also take another location, or your current location and then set the radius from one to 30 kilometers.

When you tap on interests, you can search for keywords. But Instagram also suggests interests that go well with your profile and existing content.

Budget and duration

The last things you need to decide are the budget for your promotion and the duration. You can choose from a daily budget of between one and 1.000 euros. The possible duration is between one and 30 days.

When you have set your parameters, Instagram shows you the estimated reach for your promotion.

Tap “Next” and review your selection. Here you can also add your payment information, choose from debit card, credit card, or PayPal.

Now you are only one step apart from your promotion. Tap “Create Promotion” and Instagram will review your ad to make sure it does not collide with its ad policies. That usually takes 60 minutes.
