Storrito Q&A: How to create a poll in your Instagram Stories as an ad

Want to successfully showcase your brand on Instagram? Then Instagram Stories should be a part of your daily work. In our "Storrito Q&A" we’ll explain everything you need to know about Instagram, Instagram Stories and Instagram Marketing.

Today: How to create a poll in your Instagram Stories as an ad.

Instagram gives you a lot of options if you want to publish an ad in your Stories. You can choose from four different forms of presentation. There are photo, video, carousel, or collection ads available for your Instagram Stories.

But that is not all. Not long ago, Instagram introduced interactive ads for the Stories section.

Like that, you can now insert polls or questions to your Stories ads to get direct feedback from your target groups.

Instagram stated that 60 percent of businesses use interactive elements in their organic Stories. These include all kinds of stickers like polls, hashtags, or mentions.

How to insert a poll to your Stories ads

Before you can insert a poll to your Stories ad, you need to create your ad in the Ads Manager as usual.

After you selected the photo or video you want to use, you need to set your audience, placement, budget, and schedule for your ad.

Note that you can only insert polls when you decide to place a single image or video ad in your Stories.

Automatic or multiple placements

If you are placing your ads automatically or multiple ads at a time, you need to edit each ad separately. To do so, tap “Edit”. In the Creative Tools section, you can select “Poll” to place it in your ad.

You can now use the poll sticker as you are used to from your organic Stories. Type in the question you want to start the poll with. The question can contain up to 80 characters.

When you are finished with your question, type in the two response options that can have up to 24 characters each.

The last step is to adjust the position and size of your poll sticker. Once you finished all that, you can move on to creating your ad and submit it in the end.

Single placements

You can also add the poll sticker to your Stories ads when you are placing your Instagram Stories ads separately.

If you have chosen a single placement for your campaign, you can choose “Add an interactive poll” right under your text box.

These are the benefits of using polls in your Stories ads

These interactive Stories ads can help you better communicate with your existing community. But it can also help you to learn something about potential followers for your business.

With the new feature, you can directly ask your target groups for feedback or their opinions.

Polls are a fun way for people to interact with brands on Instagram. One advantage is that they feel included in your business's decisions. But more importantly, they get direct feedback if their opinion is in the majority or minority of all answers.
