3 Tips to Get More Out of Your Facebook Stories

Want to successfully showcase your brand on Instagram? Then Instagram Stories should be a part of your daily work. In our 'Storrito FAQ series' we'll explain everything you need to know about Instagram, Instagram Stories and Instagram Marketing.

Today: Three tips to get the most out of your Facebook Stories.

The Stories format is now a staple across social media. After Snapchat introduced the feature, most of the big players copied it, including Facebook, which launched its own Stories format well after its subsidiary Instagram did. The format on Facebook has since become nearly as established.

Stories on Facebook are similar to other formats you know. They appear at the top of the news feed and are only available for 24 hours.

This prominent placing is one of the main reasons you should consider using them for your business. Here are three tips on how you can get the most out of your Facebook Stories.

Key facts at a glance

  • Why the news feed slot makes Facebook Stories worth targeting for business pages
  • The interactive stickers that actually drive engagement on Facebook Stories
  • The reshare pattern that turns one tag into wider reach
  • What Facebook Insights shows for Stories that you can't get from feed metrics alone

Create fun and interactive Stories

Stories offer you a lot of possibilities to create fun and interactive content. You can use filters or emojis, and you can insert interactive stickers like polls, questions, hashtags, or mentions. These add-ons can help your Stories reach more accounts and drive more interaction.

Share content from other accounts

When you tag someone in your Stories, they can easily reshare the Story to their own account. Make sure to use this feature the other way round as well.

This is how you show your collaborations with other brands or influencers. You can even share user-generated content from your followers.

For example, start a competition for your community and show the results on your Stories. Make sure to mention the people in your Stories so that they can easily share the content.

That way, you can reach a much wider audience with not too much effort.

Track your performance

You should always track the performance of your Facebook Stories.

To do so, go to your Facebook Page's Professional Dashboard (or open Meta Business Suite), then Insights, then filter by Stories.

You will get information about how many people you reached with your Stories, how many reacted to your Stories, and demographic information about your audience. That includes age, gender, and the location they come from.

You can also see what actions people took, for example, if they skipped, forwarded, or at what point they exited your Stories. Meta deprecated several Page Insights metrics in September 2024, so the demographic and interaction breakdowns are now more limited than they used to be.

Armed with this, you can easily analyze what content is appealing to your audience. You will also see what days and times are the best to post your Stories on Facebook.
