Instagram's features are constantly being updated, with new features being added and old ones discontinued. Instagram TV, or IGTV for short, was developed and released as a standalone app in 2018. However, now users will find the function directly integrated into Instagram. Users are thus freer in terms of time and do not have to just rely on Instagram Stories.
The videos in Instagram TV are allowed to be between one and 60 minutes long. Additionally, users can post videos directly to Instagram and reach their followers, instead of having to upload them to other platforms.
It only takes five steps to upload a video to Instagram TV:
The videos in your Instagram TV add value for your followers. We have a few tips on how to best showcase and upload your videos.
Tap “Add to Series” if you want to add your video to an IGTV series. To create a new series, tap “New Series,” enter a name for the series, and then tap “Create.” Tap “Done” in the top right corner. When your videos are organized in series, your followers will be able to see what they are about, and new followers can choose topics that look interesting to them.
To let your followers know that you have uploaded a new IGTV video, you can post a preview of the video in your feed. To do this, activate the “Post preview” option. This preview consists of the first 15 seconds of the video.
Tap “Edit Preview” if you want to customize the preview of your video. However, this option is only available for videos in 9:16 format. If the video is in 16:9 format, it will not be cropped. Tap “Save” in the upper right corner.
Tap “Edit Profile Cover” to customize your IGTV cover image for your profile grid. When you are done, tap “Save” in the top right corner.
