How To Schedule Snapchat Stories And Spotlight

You can connect your Snapchat Public Profile to Storrito and schedule Snapchat Stories and Spotlight videos, from the same page and the same piece of media as your Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Threads, and LinkedIn content.

Before you connect: a Public Profile

Storrito posts to your Snapchat Public Profile, not to your private account. If you don't have one yet, create it in the Snapchat app first: tap your profile icon, then Create Public Profile. Snapchat only offers this for accounts that are older than 24 hours and have at least one friend. See Snapchat's guide How do I create a Public Profile on Snapchat? for details.

If you connect an account without a Public Profile, Storrito tells you so when you come back from Snapchat. Create the Public Profile and connect again.

Connect your Snapchat Public Profile

Step 1: Go to Social Accounts in the left menu and click Connect for Snapchat. You can also click Connect account in the account list on the scheduling page and pick the Snapchat card.

Step 2: Storrito reminds you that a Public Profile is needed. Click Continue to Snapchat and log in, then allow Storrito to post for you. Keep all permissions enabled, otherwise Storrito can't publish.

Step 3: You land back on the Social Accounts page, where your Public Profile is listed under Snapchat. Click Remove next to it to disconnect it from Storrito.

What Snapchat accepts

Every Snapchat account you connect shows up twice in the account list: once under Snapchat Stories and once under Snapchat Spotlight.

  • A Story carries one video or one image. A video needs to be at least 5 seconds long. Stories have no caption.
  • A Spotlight carries one video of at least 6 seconds. Its caption becomes the Spotlight's description and can be up to 160 characters.
  • Videos can be up to 60 seconds long. Storrito cuts every video to one minute, so any video you post from Storrito fits.

A video that's too short is greyed out in the account list with a note saying so.

If your design is still being prepared when you open the scheduling page, you can still schedule it. Storrito posts it as soon as the video or image is ready.

How Snapchat plays a longer Story

Snapchat plays Story videos in short segments of about 15 seconds, so a 45-second Story shows up as three Snaps in a row. That's how Snapchat displays Stories: Storrito uploads your video in one piece, and your viewers see it play through segment by segment. A Spotlight plays in one piece.

Schedule a Snapchat Story or Spotlight

Step 1: Get your media into Storrito — Upload on the Schedule page, or create it in the editor.

Step 2: Open the scheduling page. From the editor, click Share then Schedule story. From the Gallery, click your media and choose Social schedule.

Step 3: Under Social accounts, click Select social accounts... and tick your profile under Snapchat Stories, Snapchat Spotlight, or both.

Step 4: For a Spotlight, fill in Caption / description. This becomes the Spotlight's description. The same field feeds the captions and descriptions of the other platforms, so if you're posting to several platforms at once, you're writing one text for all of them. If you only post a Story, the field isn't shown.

Step 5: Set Date & time and click the button below it. The field arrives prefilled with the current date and time, and the button reads Post now until you change it. Once you pick a different date it becomes Schedule to selected destination(s).

What happens to a caption over 160 characters

A Spotlight description takes 160 characters. If your caption is longer, Storrito shortens it for the Spotlight and ends it with "…". The note Shortened to 160 characters for Snapchat Spotlight under the caption field tells you when this happens. Other platforms you post to at the same time still get the full caption.

If you'd rather decide where the text ends, shorten the caption yourself before you post.

Tracking the post

Scheduling activity shows each Story and Spotlight moving through Scheduled → In progress → Live. A Cancel link is available while the post is still scheduled. On the Schedule page it appears as a Snapchat Story or Snapchat Spotlight card, with Edit, Re-schedule, and Cancel on hover.

If your profile shows as disconnected

Snapchat can revoke Storrito's access, for example after you change your password or remove Storrito from your Snapchat settings. Storrito notices this when a post fails: the post shows as Failed in the Scheduling activity with the note that the profile is disconnected, and the profile is marked Disconnected on the Social Accounts page. Click Reconnect next to the profile and log in again, then schedule the failed post once more. A failed post is not retried on its own.

What it costs

Each Story or Spotlight that Storrito publishes on Snapchat costs $0.08, the same as a Facebook Reel or Story, a Threads post, or a LinkedIn post. You are only charged for a post that was published. See How Storrito Credits And Pricing Work for all rates.

Like everything else Storrito schedules, a Snapchat post only publishes if your credit balance is positive when it's due. See How Scheduling Works In Storrito for the rules that apply to every platform.
