Resolving Incorrect Password Errors

If Storrito shows Incorrect password when you connect your Instagram account but you are sure the password is right, Instagram has rejected the login. What to do depends on what Instagram says next.

Instagram wants to confirm this account first

Below the error, Storrito offers Log in with a code instead. If Instagram answers that with Instagram wants to confirm this account first, Instagram is holding the account for an identity check. The check happens on Instagram's side, so Storrito can't complete it for you. Accounts without two-factor authentication (2FA) land here most often.

Reconnecting with the old password won't get past this check, and every attempt counts as another login from an unknown device. Stop connecting and work through these steps in order:

  1. Log in to Instagram on your usual device — the Instagram app on your phone, or instagram.com in the browser you normally use. Complete the Confirm your account steps Instagram shows you.
  2. Set a new password while you are logged in: Settings → Accounts Center → Password and security → Change password.
  3. Set up 2FA with an authenticator app if the account doesn't have 2FA yet. See How To Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) For Instagram Using An Authenticator App.
  4. Connect once in Storrito with the new password. Make a single, clean attempt. If it fails again, contact support instead of retrying — we can see in the logs what Instagram is asking for.

Once the check is cleared, the connection usually goes through on the first try with the new password.

The password needs a reset

If there is no confirmation prompt, change the password in Instagram and reconnect. On mobile:

  1. Go to your profile and tap the Menu button (hamburger icon, top right).
  2. Select Settings and privacy.
  3. Open the Meta Accounts Center.
  4. Tap Password and security.
  5. Tap Change password.
  6. Enter your old password.
  7. Create a new password.

Or use Instagram's password reset page in a browser.

After changing the password, return to Storrito and connect the account with the new password.

Still not connecting

  • Check that 2FA is fully set up. An authenticator app that was added but never confirmed can also produce this error. Finish the setup in the Instagram app, then reconnect.
  • Try the email link instead. Below the error, Connect via email link logs the account in through a link Instagram sends to the account's email address. See Connecting Via Recovery Email Link.
  • Ask us. Contact support through the chat in Storrito and tell us the username. We can check what Instagram answered on the last attempt.
