Key facts at a glance
Over the years, video ads on social media have become increasingly important for brands and businesses, especially on Facebook and Instagram. To create the right experience with a video ad, you should always consider the music you pair with your message.
Music has always played a significant role in advertising, whether it's the catchy jingle or the emotional background music.
In 2017, Facebook introduced its Sound Collection to help you improve your video ads.
The tool offers a wide range of audio tracks and sound effects that you can add to your videos. Because Facebook owns these clips, you can use them for free.
You can access the Sound Collection via Meta Business Suite. Open the left navigation, select 'All tools,' then 'Sound Collection,' or go directly to sound.facebook.com.
The Sound Collection is divided into two categories, Tracks and Sound Effects. At the moment, there are 8,959 audio tracks and 1,741 sound effects in Facebook's music library. But these numbers are growing, because Facebook adds more tracks to its collection from time to time.
In terms of audio tracks, Facebook offers a wide range of genres, such as folk, classical, blues, holiday, Middle Eastern, and Latin. You can also search for music with a certain mood, such as scary, dreamy, bright, groovy, happy, or romantic music. There is also the option to search for music by its length or by whether it has vocals or is instrumental.
The sound effects include categories like UI, Industry, Machinery, Tools and Offices, Water and Underwater, Footsteps, Alarms, Bells and Sirens, and Fabrics. You can also choose from different lengths of sounds.
In the Sound Collection, you can listen to every track and then download it to your computer to add to your videos.
The Facebook Sound Collection is not just for Facebook; you can also use it in your Instagram videos.
All tracks and effects can be used for every piece of content you produce for Facebook and Instagram. This includes videos, ads, Reels, and stories.
But be careful if you want to use your video ads or stories on another platform. You can't use tracks from the Facebook Sound Collection on YouTube or in your LinkedIn stories.
The Facebook Sound Collection is a great source when you are looking for the perfect music or sound effect for your videos. But always make sure not to use the music outside the Facebook universe.
