Key facts at a glance

  • Instagram Insights shows reach, interactions, and Story-level analytics for business profiles over a selected window of up to 90 days
  • You can see your Story viewers and their names by swiping up on a live Story
  • Story view counts remain accessible through Archive for up to 48 hours after posting
  • The view count may be higher than the number of unique usernames if followers viewed your Story more than once

Check Instagram Insights and Story Archive for Viewer Counts and Names

In order to analyze exactly how your Instagram stories are received by your followers, it is important to know how many people have viewed them, and who these viewers were. For this purpose, there are Insights on Instagram for business profiles.

You can find them on your profile under the description. Here, you get an analysis of your account and content for a selected window of up to 90 days. For example, you can see how many accounts you reached total, how many interactions your content had, and the reach of each of your posted stories.

Besides through Insights, there is another way to access the numbers: go to the story and swipe up on the screen. Here, you'll see the number of viewers as well as the names of who exactly saw your story.

Additionally, there's another way to see how many of your followers have seen stories up to 48 hours after posting:

  1. Tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap the icon in the top right corner to go to your settings.
  3. Tap 'Archive.'
  4. Select the story whose views you are interested in.
  5. Tap on the story and swipe up as usual.

Important note: The number of views may be higher than the number of usernames if your followers have seen your story multiple times.
