Instagram's features are constantly being updated, with new features being added and old ones discontinued. In our “Instagram Guides,” we’ll look at Instagram, explain its new and old features, and show you how to get the most out of the platform for your marketing strategy. Today: Instagram Reels: here's how to find them and how Instagram decides which reels to show you.
Instagram Reels are short videos that users can create for their followers. Here's how to find reels in the Instagram app:
1. Tap the middle icon at the bottom of the Instagram app.
2. Scroll down to see more reels.
You can also scroll through your feed to see reels from creators you follow.
Instagram tries to reduce the visibility of reels that are about politics when they are displayed in areas that provide little context (for example, when users scroll through reels). If people you follow share reels that are about politics, you can still see them on their profile or in your feed. Instagram does not restrict visibility in these areas.
Here's how to find reels that use certain audio or a specific hashtag:
1. Tap the audio name or hashtag at the bottom of the reel to bring up a page of other reels that use the same audio or hashtag.
2. Search for a specific hashtag using the search bar at the top.
On the audio page of a reel, tap "Use Audio" to record a reel with the same audio. If you record a reel with original audio, your reel will first appear on the page with other reels that use the same audio.
On Instagram, you'll see public reels in the "Reels" tab. You'll see reels based on other reels you've viewed, liked, or commented on, and reels from accounts you're subscribed to.
In addition to the above, Instagram selects reels based on the following criteria:
